Bulgogi – (Korean marinated meat)

Bulgogi, a dish of Korean origin that consists of marinated beef and cooked in a pan or wok. It is a very tasty and aromatic dish, with a unique combination of sweet, salty and umami flavors. It is very popular in Korea and many other Asian countries, and is a great option for an exotic and delicious dinner.

Ingredients for Bulgogi:

  • 500 grams of beef (preferably sirloin)
  • 1 large onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 chives
  • 1 Asian pear or apple, grated
  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Instructions to prepare Bulgogi:

  1. Cut the meat into thin strips and set aside.
  2. In a separate container, mix the chopped onion, garlic, grated pear or apple, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, honey, grated ginger and a little black pepper.
  3. Add the meat to the mixture and mix well so that it is completely covered. Marinate for at least an hour, preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
  4. Cut the chives into thin slices and set aside.
  5. In a large frying pan or wok, heat a little sesame oil and add the marinated meat. Cook over high heat for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Add the scallions and cook for a few more minutes.
  7. Serve hot, accompanied by white rice and sautéed vegetables if desired.
