Cookies and storage

Cookie Policy

We don't declare cookies or services that aren't actually installed: this page is updated whenever what the site really uses changes.

1. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser to remember information between visits. Your browser's local storage (localStorage) serves a similar purpose, but it stays only on your device and isn't sent with every request to the server the way cookies are.

2. What we use today: local storage, not cookies

Manual de Cocina currently doesn't install any cookie of its own. We only use your browser's local storage (localStorage) for two features:

  • Favorite recipes: stores on your device the IDs of the recipes you bookmark, to show them in your favorites list.
  • Theme preference (light/dark): remembers your visual choice for the site.

This information never leaves your browser: we don't receive it, store it on our servers, or share it with anyone.

3. Third-party cookies: Google AdSense

The site's only advertising is Google AdSense; we don't use, and have no plans to use, any other advertising or analytics service. The domain manualdecocina.com is already approved by Google AdSense and shows ads on the version currently in production; on this rebuilt version, ads will switch on automatically once it's deployed to production with the publisher ID configured.

Once AdSense ads are active here, Google and its advertising partners may set cookies to: show relevant ads, measure their performance, prevent fraud and, if you accept personalization, tailor ads to your browsing activity. Common Google cookies in this context include _gcl_au, NID and IDE, though the exact list can vary and is controlled by Google. See the full detail in Google's cookie policy.

4. Managing consent

Advertising consent is managed by Google’s certified consent platform. Where applicable to your region and before you have made a choice, Google displays its message to accept, reject or manage options. You can reopen it from “Cookie preferences” in the footer when the platform is available. If it cannot be opened, the site tells you without recording a choice.

5. How to clear cookies and local storage from your browser

You can clear cookies and local storage at any time from your browser's privacy settings (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, etc.). Note that clearing local storage will remove the favorite recipes saved on that device.
