This baked beef roast recipe is perfect for a special dinner or to share with friends and family. The beef broth and red wine add a depth of flavor to the meat, while the vegetables add a touch of sweetness. It's a delicious and satisfying option!
Ingredients to prepare Baked Beef Roast:
- 1 kg beef roast
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, cut into quarters
- 2 large carrots, peeled and cut into large pieces
- 2 sticks celery, cut into large pieces
- 4 whole cloves of garlic, peeled
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup of red wine
- 2 sprigs of fresh rosemary
- Salt and ground black pepper
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the beef roast with salt and pepper and sear it in the pan until browned on both sides.
- Transfer the roast to a large baking dish and add the onion, carrots, celery and garlic cloves around the roast.
- Pour the beef broth and red wine over the meat and vegetables. Add the fresh rosemary sprigs to the baking dish.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place in the oven. Bake for 2-3 hours or until meat is tender.
- Remove the baking dish from the oven and remove the aluminum foil. Let the meat rest for about 10 minutes before slicing it.
- Serve hot with the vegetables and cooking juices.
