Creamy mashed potatoes are a popular side dish consisting of cooked and mashed potatoes, mixed with butter, milk or cream and seasoned with salt and pepper to taste. The result is a smooth and creamy texture that is served hot. Creamy mashed potatoes are a versatile dish that can be served as a side for a variety of dishes, such as meats, poultry or vegetables. In addition, it can be customized with other ingredients such as cheese, garlic, onion, herbs, among others to give it a special touch.
Ingredients to prepare creamy mashed potatoes:
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Chopped chives, to decorate (optional)
Instructions for preparing creamy mashed potatoes:
- In a large pot, boil potatoes in salted water until soft and easily pierced with a fork, about 15-20 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes and place them back in the pot.
- Add the milk and butter to the potatoes and use a hand blender to puree until smooth and creamy.
- Season to taste.
- If you wish, decorate with chopped chives before serving.
