Ingredients:

  • 200 grams of Semi-sweet chocolate (preferably good quality)

  • 1/2 Cup of Milk cream (whipping cream)

  • 2 Tablespoons of Unsalted butter

  • 1 teaspoon of Vanilla

  • Optional: liquor of your choice (such as rum, whiskey or orange)

  • Optional: cocoa powder, icing sugar or chopped nuts to decorate

Instructions

  • Break the chocolate into small pieces and place in a heatproof bowl.
  • In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream and butter over medium heat until the mixture begins to boil. Remove the pot from the heat immediately.
  • Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let sit for 1 minute so the heat melts the chocolate.
  • Using a spatula or wooden spoon, mix gently until smooth and shiny. Make sure all the chocolate is completely melted.
  • Add the vanilla essence and, if desired, one or two tablespoons of liqueur of your choice. Mix well.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until the mixture is firm.
  • Once the mixture is firm, remove the bowl from the refrigerator. Using a small spoon or ice cream scoop, form the chocolate mixture into balls and place them on a plate or tray lined with wax paper.
  • If you want to decorate the truffles, you can roll them in cocoa powder, icing sugar, or chopped nuts. Make sure to cover them completely.
  • Place the truffles back in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to harden.
  • And ready! Your chocolate truffles are ready to be enjoyed. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume them within 1 to 2 weeks.

Tips

  • Use good quality chocolate: Choose a high quality semisweet chocolate to get the best flavor and texture in your truffles.
  • Add additional flavors: Experiment with different flavors by adding mint, coffee, almond or even hot chili extracts when mixing the chocolate.
  • Adjust the consistency of the mixture: If the mixture is too soft to form the truffles, refrigerate it for longer to harden. If it is too firm, leave it at room temperature for a few minutes to make it more pliable.
  • Decorate your truffles: In addition to rolling truffles in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, or chopped nuts, you can also try decorations like chocolate shavings, grated coconut, or dried fruit pieces.
  • Adjust the consistency of the mixture: If the mixture is too soft to form the truffles, refrigerate it for longer to harden. If it is too firm, leave it at room temperature for a few minutes to make it more pliable.
  • Experiment with size: You can make smaller truffles to serve as appetizers or larger truffles for a more indulgent dessert. Just make sure you adjust the cooldown times appropriately.
  • Store truffles properly: Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain their freshness and firmness. Take them out a few minutes before serving so that they reach room temperature.
  • Personalize your truffles: If you want to give it a personal touch, you can try adding pieces of dried fruit, orange zest, or even a touch of sea salt to the top of each truffle.
